Dorcil | Sphere 1 | Mountain towns, caves, and tunnels

Dorcil is a mountainous region in Luxersom, forming a rugged natural barrier between the fertile Sideris Valley to the north and the rural areas of Agada and Siton and coastal lands of Nayani to the south. Known for its steep ridgelines, deep river gorges, and dense networks of tunnels and mountain passes, Dorcil is both a strategic transportation corridor and one of the most culturally distinct regions of the kingdom.

Despite its harsh terrain, Dorcil is home to several thriving highland communities whose cultures were shaped by centuries of isolation, tribal rivalry, and eventual reconciliation. Today the region is known for scenic tourism, historic battlefields, and the controversial Dorcil Tunnel system that cuts through its mountains.

Settlements

Karnlaun

Karnlaun lies in the western portion of Dorcil closest to Luxersom City and the fertile Sideris Valley. It is the most affluent of the three towns and benefits from trade routes connecting the mountains to the lowlands.
The surrounding region features scenic forests, fertile terraces, and mountain retreats that attract visitors from nearby cities. Karnlaun’s communities are spread across wooded slopes and farming valleys, with a central town serving as a hub for trade, education, and local governance.

Torsen

Located in the central mountains, Torsen occupies the harshest terrain in Dorcil. Its peaks are steep and settlements are few, often isolated across narrow valleys or perched along ridgelines.

Historically, Torsen suffered the most devastation during the tribal conflicts that once plagued the mountains. Despite this difficult past, Torsen’s people developed a strong reputation for hospitality. Travelers crossing the mountains often rely on Torsen villages for shelter and assistance.
The culture of Torsen values endurance, community protection, and generosity toward strangers.

Singlan

Singlan lies in the eastern Dorcil mountains near the Nayanin Pass, making it the most tourist-oriented town in the region.

Its dramatic landscapes and proximity to the river gorge have turned Singlan into a center for extreme recreation. Attractions include canyon swings, bungee jumps, cable cars, river rides, and cliffside viewing platforms.

The local population is widely regarded as cheerful and entertaining, though outsiders often repeat the warning: “Beware of the Singlan jesters.” While Singlan residents welcome visitors enthusiastically, the town has a reputation for clever tricks, playful scams, and opportunistic pickpocketing.
