Introduction: The Kingdom Child

You have voyaged through the wilderness. You have struggled, believed, and conquered. The sojourner in you has gone through the rigors of emptiness and the unknown. The treasures of the journey remain with you, and you sense you are at the cusps of something great. And yet, something is amiss. You find yourself in the tension of what you believe and what you see, the tension between faith and reality.

Many live in that tension.
You are not alone.

To experience the fullness of the glory God has for His children, you find yourself called to be exactly that — a child among His children.

In order to serve and love His people — your fellow children of light — that’s what you must be.

A child.

You have sought His kingdom and found it, but you find before you a broken kingdom with broken people, who have their own ideas of what it means to serve the King. You long for the Father heart of God, but what you keep encountering in His people is a smattering of ideas and principles based on various understandings and interpretations of the King’s Word, His law.

Scripture says that His kingdom is not a matter of mere talk, but of power (1 Corinthians 4:20). You’ve wondered what it means to live in that power. You hold within you a deep yearning to see His kingdom come alive in your community, in your home, in your life. Within you is a cry to experience God as both King and Father, assuring you not only of your identity as His princess and His daughter, but also of your place and acceptance among kingdom people, who also need to discover their own identity in Him.

If these words are true of you, if it awakens in you a desire to become as a child, reaching right into the Father’s Heart, the Kingdom Child is you.

I pray this book will awaken in you a divine dissatisfaction, perhaps even a righteous anger, against the extremes of religiosity and lawlessness hindering His children from drawing near to Him, from seeing God as He is. I pray that in her quest, The Kingdom Child will point you toward a deeper understanding of who He is, how He sees you, and how His heart beats for the people around you.

We journey on with Him.
Until His kingdom becomes on earth as it is in heaven.
Flourish, Kingdom Child.
