Welcome to my “new” author website, joannatheparadox.com.
I started writing this just when I finished the last task on my list to be able to say that this website has been built and completely functional. The final task was to click on links and see if they all work — I’m hoping they all do! I think they all do… Actually, that’s not completely true. My last task to consider this website officially finished and “launched” is to write this post, so here we are…
Why am I launching a new website?
If you’ve been with me for a while, then you know that this isn’t my first website. Originally, my author website was joannaalonzo.com — I’d make that into a workable link, if I was sure that what you’d find there is uhm… wholesome. I’ve been told that it’s not.
To keep things short, let’s just say that in 2023, I lost that original domain I’ve been using since I started as an author, because my host just got to be too expensive and I was unable to keep up. By the time I could buy the domain back, someone had already bought the domain, and apparently, they turned it into an adult website? My mailing list subscribers tuned me in on this by letting me know that links from my newsletter, Paradox Post, lead to a site that’s very much not my author brand, to say the least.
Fast forward to July of last year, I saw a bargain I couldn’t pass up with a host that was so much cheaper than my first one. I was thinking back then that I would just create a simple website, have basic landing pages for my books. Something simple. No fuss.
I forgot that I’m me.
Who was I kidding? No fuss?! What started out as something basic turned into a behemoth of a project that I’ve been working on little by little for six months now. I track my work hours, so according to my tracker. It took me 217 hours and 48 minutes (not including the writing of this post) to finish this website.
I could’ve written 3-5 novels in that span of time, but I built this website instead, and honestly?
No regrets. I love my new online home.
So, welcome! I’m glad you found your way here somehow.
This place will be the headquarters of my bookish news — new releases, my book catalog, books I’ve read and plan to review, relevant life updates, etc.
Feel free to click around. I’ll be posting a blog once in a while, but I also do have plans I’m excited about to post an entirely new story, chapter-by-chapter, right here.
